All:                             the One whose Spirit lives within us.

Leader:                       Let us enter God’s house with thanksgiving;

Men:                          and come into God’s presence with praise.

*Hymn                                                “The First Noel”                                                         #245

  * Unison Opening Prayer – adapted from the prayers of Ignatius of Loyola, 16th c.

Teach us, good Lord,

            to serve you as you deserve;

            to give and not to count the cost;

            to labor and not to ask for any reward,

                        except that of knowing that we do your will.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.

Give us only your love and your grace; that is enough for us.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

*Chorus                         “Angels from the Realms of Glory” (Refrain)                       #220

Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ the newborn King.
